While investment property is often a long-term financial planning vehicle, with rental income and future resale profits being the main drivers, some property is acquired with specific renovation, remodelling or enhancement plans in mind. The aim is to complete the work in the short term and hopefully realise a capital gain as soon as possible. This can be a lucrative exercise, although not without inherent risks.
